Sources: what you can show
Camera, screen, images, videos, text, colour, chat, web overlays, phone camera, shaders…
Add one with + under Sources: a window opens with every kind sorted into categories (Popular, Cameras & capture, Pictures & media, Text & graphics, Twitch & chat, Interactive, Music & visuals, Advanced) and a search box. The cards with a wand walk you through it step by step. Already in your setup adds a source you have in another scene, a clone of one, or a whole scene inside this one. The kinds:
- Camera: a webcam or capture card.
- Screen / window / tab: a game, an app or a browser tab. Needs a click each time you open flint (browsers insist): the stage shows a Share button where it goes.
- Image and Video file: from your computer. Videos up to 50 MB, images up to 20 MB, so they can follow your backup to other devices.
- Video playlist: a video file's properties › Make it a playlist plays several videos one after another (like OBS's VLC source), in order or shuffled, starting again after the last if you like. Skip with the buttons there or a control (Studio › Controls › Video playlist): intermission loops, music videos, reruns.
- Video from a web address: an MP4 or a live HLS stream; the site must allow it.
- Image slideshow: pictures that change every few seconds, with a crossfade.
- Text and Colour: titles, labels, backgrounds. Text can have coloured words and scroll like a ticker.
- Twitch chat: your chat, drawn on screen.
- Web overlay: an alert box or widget from StreamElements, Streamlabs and the like. See web overlays.
- Phone camera: your phone as a wireless camera. See phone camera.
- glint shader: animated, music-reactive visuals. One too heavy for your graphics card is drawn smaller until it keeps up (its properties say so); a lower render size makes it lighter for good.
- Audio visualiser: bars or a wave that move with the sound. See visualiser.
- Scene: another scene shown inside this one.
Microphones live in the Audio mixer, not in scenes: they're always heard.
Double-click a source (or press the cog) for its properties, filters, position and sound.
