Use your phone as a camera

Scan a QR code and your phone's camera (and mic) appears in flint, over Wi-Fi.

  1. Sources › + › Phone camera.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera app, and open the link.
  3. On the phone, tap Start and allow the camera.

The picture goes straight from the phone to this computer: it works best on the same Wi-Fi. Use Flip on the phone to change between front and back cameras, and Mic to send its sound too. Keep the phone's screen on and the page open.

It works on mobile data too: when the phone and computer can't reach each other directly (some office, school and mobile networks block it), the picture goes through a relay instead. If it still can't connect, try the same Wi-Fi.

Anyone with the link could send a picture to that source, so don't share it; New link in its properties makes a new one.

Camera settings from your computer (like OBS Camera): once the phone is connected, its properties show Camera settings: which of the phone's cameras (wide, ultra-wide, telephoto, front), the resolution and frame rate, the torch, and turning the phone's own preview off to save its battery. Image settings: zoom, white balance (automatic, or a colour temperature), lighting (automatic, EV correction, or manual shutter and ISO) and focus (automatic, or a distance). flint remembers them and sets them again when the phone reconnects. What you can change depends on the phone's browser: Chrome on Android offers most of it; Safari on iPhone keeps zoom, white balance, exposure and focus automatic.
